Interim PTSO Board 2021-22

WOW!! We want to thank the Parkwood High community for really stepping up after Covid kept PTSO involvement to a minimum last year and we were left with many empty positions on the board. These people have generously offered to fill the vacancies until an official vote is taken at the beginning of the school year. We are so thankful for each person who reached out and expressed interest in helping out and look forward to being able to help make the upcoming year a great one for our kids. Here is the list for the PWHS PTSO Interim Board for the 2021-22 School Year!

My name is Philip King. My wife Carrie and our boys Colby and Colin live off Lathan rd. Carrie attended Parkwood and her mother worked many years as secretary in the office. I recently retired from Cabarrus County as a paramedic after 38 years and now I work paramedic as a disaster response team member and I own and operate kings estate services. We’re currently opening an office next door to Roughedge. I am already an approved UCPS volunteer at both the high school and middle school.
I would like to throw my name in the hat as president. I feel I could meet those tasks.

I would like to apply for the vice president position on the pto board. I have been volunteering on the pto since my son was in first grade. I have held a few different positions on the board. I have volunteered and helped with several school events in the past. I held the treasure position for the past school year. I am prepared to help the pto grow and get more involved this next school year to make it a successful year and get back to normal.

I have been a part of the Parkwood Cluster for 15 years. I became a part of the community when I started teaching at Western Union Elementary. I have taught grades K-4 there. I am married and have 2 daughters. One just graduated from Parkwood High this year and is headed to NC State and the other daughter will be a freshman at Parkwood. I understand the importance of PTO support from a teacher and parent point of view and look forward to working with everyone this school year.

Hi there! My name is Christy Worsham and my family has been a part of the Parkwood cluster for the past three years. Emma graduated with the class of 2020 and Addysen is going into her sophomore year. I am happy to help in any capacity needed. In the past I have held the position of treasurer for an international organization. In my current career I am an accounting specialist with my primary duties being accounts payable and reconciliation.

My name is Kim Howard and currently have a rising 10th grader at Parkwood. I also am a mom of a graduate of Parkwood High. I would be honored to chair the Spiritwear wear committee. Wearing school colors in the latest design and fashion are such boost to the school students and staff. I would be honored to be a part of such an exciting event.

My name is Kerri Lowery and I’d like to be considered for the PTSO this year. My husband, Jim, and I have four children. My daughter, Gabriella, is an incoming sophomore at Western Carolina. My oldest son, James, graduated this year from PWHS and my middle son, Elijah, is an incoming sophomore. My youngest, Aidan, will be in 7th grade at the middle school. My boys will be playing football for both schools again this year so that takes up many of my fall evenings but I’m willing to help as much as possible around their schedule. I will be serving as the secretary at the middle school this year and think it would work well if I were secretary at both schools if I take on a board position. However, I’d love to be on hospitality if it’s available. I served on the PTO board at Waxhaw Elementary for four years (yes, it’s a 2 year position but we could not fill the position). To be honest I just don’t want to see the school without a PTSO. The students and staff miss out on so much that way.

Cindy Tinch is a mother of two, Adam, a rising senior at Appalachian State University and Emily, a rising senior at PWHS. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and have been a resident of Waxhaw for over 16 years. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and worked full-time for Bank of America for over 17 years and I’m currently an employee of Ally Financial, Inc for over 7 years.

My name is Brandie Garrison. I have been married for 19 years. We have 3 children, two will be at the high school next year. My daughter is a senior and my son will be a freshman. All 3 are in sports and keep me busy. I would love to help on the Parkwood PTSO board, Because I will have a senior I would like to apply for the senior events coordinator. These children have missed out on so much the last two years due to covid and I want to make their senior year special. I was on the PTO board for 6 years while my children were in elementary school. I was the Cheer coach and commissioner at the middle school for several years and know many of the students. I am a part time preschool teacher. Working with kids is my passion

My name is Jen Shoun and I have served on the PWHS PTSO Board for the last 3 years in both Vice President and Co-President positions as well as chairing the Website committee. Our youngest is a rising senior at Parkwood so this year is especially bittersweet. I’m looking forward to a great year!
